Attractions & Services
Less than thirty minutes from the capital, Mero is located on the West coast of the island and offers an attractive black sand beach in a small but accessible bay.
  • Mero Beach - The warm black sand and the smooth winds from the Caribbean Sea offers complete relaxation.  There are restaurants and snack bars along the beach, offering delicacies from the village. Other things to do at Mero include water sports, snorkelling and boat rides. The bay is also well-known as an anchorage for visiting yachts.
  • Macoucherie Rum Factory - See the only factory that still operates a water mill in its daily production of sugar cane, using the same technhique for over 200 years.
  • Waterfalls - Gros Morne Falls is famous for its picturesque view. Shillingford Falls located on the Macoucherie Estate is used as a source of energy for the rum factory’s water mill.
  • Bat Cave - This cave overlooks the sea and is located on the old coast road.
  • The community is becoming well-known for its Friday Night Fish Night.
